The Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental is a gracious, luxury hotel situated at the top of Nob Hill. The hotel's central location in this compact city makes it convenient to most area attractions, and the financial district. Just step right outside the front door to ride one of San Francisco's fabled cable cars. Noted architects immediately pronounced the Mark Hopkins as being architecturally perfect when it was built in 1926. The 19-story hotel is a combination of French chateau and Spanish Renaissance styles, embellished with elaborate terra cotta ornamentation. Gold elevator doors etched with the hotel insignia, marble floors, and silk wall coverings confirm this hotel's regal reputation. The Mark Hopkins offers a full range of services, and the fitness and business centers have recently been expanded. The hotel has three onsite restaurants, including the famous "Top of the Mark" bar and restaurant, which offers nightly entertainment and fantastic views of the city and the bay. The Nob Hill Restaurant offers dinner and features an outstanding wine list that was given Wine Spectators Award of Excellence.
The guest rooms are newly renovated and the décor features a palette of cream, sienna and salmon tones with quality oak furnishings. The updated rooms are now equipped with universal cable Internet connections, and the bathrooms are now dressed in travertine marble and black granite.
PLEASE NOTE: This hotel is experiencing a strike of hotel workers, (including cooks, room cleaners, bartenders, bellmen, food and beverage servers, bussers, and dishwashers). Replacement workers are in place, and an end date has not been decided. Until then, guests may encounter picket lines upon entering, and some services may be affected.
